Dr. Joyce Baek moved to America from Seoul, Korea at the age of 15 and attended Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut. Undergraduate study was done at Johnson and Wales University where she received a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and retail management. Following graduation, she worked as a fabric merchandiser for women’s wear and furnishing lines in New York City. After two years of working in the fashion industry, Dr. Baek decided to pursue a career in dentistry.
She moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend Ohio State University and graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. During that time Dr. Baek also worked at the Schmittgen Research Lab at Ohio State University, where they do extensive research on pancreatic cancer. She participated in the publication “Systemic Evaluation of microRNA Processing Patterns in Tissues, Cell Lines and Tumors.”
Dr. Baek received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine. Before joining Highland Dental Group she practiced in Springfield and Chicoppe, Massachusetts. Since graduating from dental school, Dr. Baek has immersed herself in continuing education courses to stay up-to-date with the latest advances in dentistry. She is a certified Six Month Smiles provider, a short-term orthodontic treatment to improve function and aesthetics.
Dr. Baek’s personal interests include baking gourmet cupcakes, yoga, snowboarding, exploring North Shore restaurants and spending time with family.
