HDG’s Cosmetic Dentistry Services
Cosmetic dentistry is a line of services in which we focus on improvement in dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance. We understand that flaunting a smile you’re proud of can do wonders for you physically and mentally, and we want to help you achieve that natural confidence that you deserve.
In fact, smiling releases endorphins, which are hormones known to improve your mood and make you feel happier on the inside. From cosmetic dentistry options like CEREC® & Invisalign to veneers and tooth whitening, there are a number of ways that we can help you reclaim your smile and your confidence.
To truly grasp the capabilities of cosmetic dentistry, we must first understand digital dentistry. So, what is digital dentistry? Simply put, digital dentistry ranges from intraoral cameras and digital radiography to digitally guided implant surgery, intraoral scanning and CAD (computer-aided design), and CEREC®.
The acronym CEREC® stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics”. It’s a digital process that allows us to fabricate crowns, inlays, onlays and some veneers without having to send the case to a dental laboratory. Through the use of CAD-CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) technology right in our office, we can often produce and insert the restoration on the same day. There are many cosmetic materials available that come in a wide variety of tooth colored shades, which allows us to closely match almost any tooth.
Invisalign is another cosmetic dentistry service option. This is a process commonly referred to as “invisible braces” or “clear braces”. It allows us, in relatively simple orthodontic cases, to improve smiles, correct overcrowding and close spaces between teeth for adults. Clear braces have become a very popular alternative to traditional metal braces & provide an affordable option to straighten your teeth faster in a more comfortable & flexible way. Children who are still growing should, in our opinion, see an orthodontist. Some of the primary benefits of Invisalign include being:
- Easier to clean than traditional braces;
- A safe, aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional metal braces;
- Able to eat and drink whatever you want (since aligners are removable);
- More comfortable than traditional metal brackets;
- More time-friendly (you’ll have fewer appointments since you don’t need to get them tightened!)
Another cosmetic dentistry treatment is veneers. Veneers are used primarily for cosmetic reasons, such as when a tooth is stained or to change the shape of a tooth. Veneers are thin coverings that replace just the front of the tooth, which makes them less invasive than crowns, and they generally look like natural teeth. It’s important to know that they’re extremely delicate, so the decision to use veneers should be considered very carefully.
Lastly, tooth whitening services are included under the umbrella of cosmetic dentistry. This refers to the process of lightening the color of your teeth. Patients often desire a tooth whitening treatment when teeth become yellowed or stained over time. The end result can be achieved by changing the intrinsic or extrinsic color of the tooth enamel.
